2024 Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage Highlights

The 2024 Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage was a day marked by profound prayer, community, and devotion. Pilgrims gathered together, united by the Rosary and a shared mission to grow closer to God.

In his conference, Fr. James Sullivan, O.P., reminded us that the Pilgrimage was not merely an event, but the beginning of a lifelong journey toward God. “The Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage really is just beginning today. This is the start of it. Us being here together begins now, a new one for the rest of our life.”

The day was filled with beautiful moments, including prayer, adoration, confession, and Mass. Nearly 400 pilgrims were enrolled in the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary, further strengthening our commitment to the Rosary.

For those who were unable to attend, or who wish to relive the day, you can watch the livestream video. We hope you can join us for the next Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage, taking place on September 27, 2025, or to pray with us spiritually through the nine-month novena beginning on January 25, 2025.

Thank you to all who participated and supported this year’s pilgrimage. May the graces we received inspire us all to deepen our commitment to prayer and continue our journey of faith, living Godward in everything we do.

The Scenic Route with Fr. James Sullivan, O.P.

In a fast-paced world, it’s easy to miss the subtle ways God calls us closer. At the 2024 Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage, Fr. James Sullivan, O.P., invited us to explore the scenic routes to God through the Annunciation and other mysteries of the Rosary.

Fr. James challenges us to see the Annunciation as more than a biblical moment; it serves as a reminder that God often breaks into our lives unexpectedly. Like the Blessed Mother, we are called to be attentive to these divine invitations, transforming our ordinary moments into extraordinary encounters with grace.

We invite you to watch Fr. James’ full talk and reflect on how these insights can inspire your spiritual journey.

Going Godward: Listen to Fr. James Preach

The second annual Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage took place on September 28, 2024, at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C. Over 3,000 pilgrims gathered to deepen their devotion to the Rosary and listen to inspiring talks by the Principal Preacher, Fr. James Sullivan, O.P.

In his first conference, Fr. James spoke about the enduring truth of the Good News of Jesus Christ: that our lives are meant to move toward God and nothing can separate us from His love. Drawing on imagery from the Annunciation, he highlighted how Our Lady exemplifies the fulfillment of God’s promises, offering hope and joy despite the fall of Adam and Eve.

Whether you joined us in person or couldn’t make it, you can now listen to Fr. James’ talk and reflect on his message of grace and God’s unwavering goodness.

The Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage is a unique opportunity to grow in faith and prayer through the intercession of Our Lady of the Rosary. Stay connected for updates on next year’s pilgrimage, and discover more resources on how the Rosary can enrich your spiritual life.

Strength in Unity: Join the Rosary Confraternity

At the Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage, Fr. Joseph-Anthony Kress, O.P., invited all to join the Confraternity of the Most Holy Rosary—a global association of the faithful united in praying the Rosary for one another. As he said, “We join together in a singular voice, praying the Rosary, turning our eyes and beseeching the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.”

What is the Rosary Confraternity?

The Rosary Confraternity is a centuries-old international association established to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary and secure her patronage through the Rosary. Members promise to pray for each other and receive spiritual benefits, including the prayers and good works of the Confraternity and the Dominican Order, along with various indulgences and the special protection of Our Lady.

Obligations of Membership

The only obligation is to pray 15 decades of the Rosary each week, which can be spread out across the week. Members are asked to include the intentions of fellow Confraternity members in their prayers.

Spiritual Benefits

  • A share in the prayers and the good works of countless thousands of Rosary Confraternity members throughout the world and in heaven.
  • A share in the good works and prayers of the Order of Preachers (Dominican Order).
  • Various plenary and partial indulgences
    • For members of the Confraternity, a plenary indulgence is granted under the usual conditions on the day of enrollment (the day indicated on the register/certificate) as well as the feast days of Christmas, Easter, the Annunciation, the Assumption of Our Lady, the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Immaculate Conception, and Our Lord’s Presentation in the Temple.
    • A plenary indulgence is also granted, under the usual conditions, to all who pray the rosary in a Church or oratory, in a family (family rosary), religious community, or in a pious association of the faithful. Otherwise, the indulgence is partial.
  • And most importantly, the intercession and special protection of Our Lady, the Mother of God.

How to Enroll

Joining is simple and open to all. To become a member and unite your prayers with thousands of others around the world, click here to enroll.

Fighting the Armada of Amnesia: A Homily of Hope

During the 2024 Dominican Rosary Pilgrimage, Fr. Dominic Verner, O.P. delivered a powerful homily, recalling a pivotal moment in history when Christians faced overwhelming odds against the Ottoman Empire. He emphasized the importance of prayer, urging the faithful to “take up the sword of prayer” and unite in calling upon Our Lady, who serves as our intercessor.

Fr. Verner drew parallels between past struggles and contemporary challenges, identifying the “armada of amnesia” as a modern threat that leads us to forget the essential mysteries of our faith. He reminded us of key events—like the Annunciation and the Resurrection—that have been overshadowed by distractions in today’s culture.

In his closing remarks, he encouraged us to ponder these mysteries and reaffirm our commitment to God’s call, echoing the words from the wedding at Cana: “Do whatever he tells you.” As we gather in prayer, we stand united with Mary, our mother, who guides us toward her Son.

The video of Fr. Verner’s homily is embedded below, offering a chance to reflect on his transformative message.

Let us embrace this call to remember and rekindle our faith as we navigate our journey in a world longing for renewal.
